‘Dawning’ is a large stoneware bowl decorated using the ancient method of pit firing. The piece was made by hand on a potters wheel using clay sourced in Cornwall. The firing process takes place in a large pit located at my studio on the North cliffs. The process is partly random and cannot be reproduced identically. I have named this piece ‘Dawning’ as it reminds me of the stunning sunrises experienced in Cornwall.
